POWERSTATION @ TUNER GP 2006
Tuner GP 2006 - POWERSTATION and Litchfield do the double again!
After last years success the challenge was set, Tuner GP sees the best performance companies on the UK come together to compete for the fastest laps during a day long shootout. Last year we were able to have a class winning entrant and the fastest Japanese car.
With our assault on the Time Attack series we were unable to use our race car but instead decided to take some of our exciting road car range to complete. We also chose to launch the new Spec C GP Edition, a car built to celebrate our circuit success over recent years.
The day could not have gone any better with the GP Edition and Type−25 taking 1st and 2nd in the Saloon car category posting lap times in the 1:18s. The Forester STI also dominated the 4x4/MPV class all day.
- 1st and 2nd Fastest Saloon cars (GP Edition & Type−25)
- Fastest 4x4/MPV with Subaru Forester STI
- Fastest Japanese car
Star of the day had to be the Forester STI, not only did it have more attention than all the Porsches put together but it also drew the biggest grins both from the spectators and drivers alike. Itsí 330bhp Performance pack and Snettertons fast bends should have been too much but it´s standard suspension and Bridgestone road tyres performed faultlessly. It also proved the perfect training tool for the drivers as they were able to explore the limits comfortably within the Forester´s benign handling.
It saw more track time than ANY other vehicle competing, running perfectly for a staggering 61 laps as it marched to overwhelming victory. It really is a car capable of everything, lugging people, tools to and from the circuit in comfort as well.
The Type−25 was great fun all day but the GP Edition was simply incredible through the bends before whipping through to 8,000rpm down the straights. Even more impressive was that the 2006 Tuner GP saw Evo magazine arrive in the new Porsche 911 (997) Turbo that despite running Michelin Cup tyres was still slower than both the GP Edition and Type−25 with the same driver. To give further perspective to the performance, Milltek brought along their modified 2006 Audi RS4 and despite being well driven it was still 6 seconds slower.
So for a second year running the Subaru road cars have shown just how fast they are on track. As ever POWERSTATION and Litchfield were delighted to have more success against the very best the UK tuning scene has to offer.
